VT 1.0D :
The first engine...

A development starting with an idea: Building up the prototype of my new little diesel engine I took the opportunity making some photos in those moments when my fingers were not to oily to hold my camera…

The raw castings with the front part, the cylinder head and the rear cover…
The crank case on work...
The drilling for the later assembly of the arbor- bearing sleeve...
The cylinder rips are worked out...
The crankcase and cylinder head are prepared for further detail finish, you can also see the cylinder head with prepared drills for valves and head screws…
On the cylinder head you can recognize the pedestal for the later mount of the rocker arms.
The flanges for carburettor and exhaust pipe are positioned sideways with an angle of 120°. -

The parts of the crankcase are fitting, the pedestal for the rocker arms is milled and the exhaust pipe is fitted!
The small gear wheels are used for the camshaft drive…

This match has normal size; it’s not a big one!
Unfortunately the small sized gear wheels for the camshaft drive are not available in any shop…
The lathe machining of the parts of crankshaft and camshaft is only possible by building and using special work holding fixtures…
Lathe machining of the crankshaft...
All parts that will rotate and move:
Crankshaft, camshaft with gear drive, piston with bolt and connecting rod.
In the background: The finished back lid of the camshaft case…

The front part of the crankcase with it’s inner main part, the eccenter bearing for compression regulation with its control lever…
The valves with valve-ducts and springs before their assembly at the cylinder head...
The essential motor parts: The hardened arbor-bearing sleeve is already shrunk into the cylinder and the rocker arms are prepared for mounting…
The first VT 1-D is ready, it’s now impatiently waiting for a prop and diesel fuel!
...

...some small-talk between two giants...
